About the novel – 1984 is a dystopian novel by George Orwell, published in June 1949, in which the author describes a totalitarian State (a State of surveillance and prevention) in 1984. In certain left-wing oriented circles, “1984” never had a good reputation. Immediately upon its publication in 1949, it met the formal excommunication of the world communist movement. Clearly it was recognized in the mustachioed face of the Big Brother, Comrade Stalin and, in the Ministry of Love, the security authorities of the Soviet Union.
Description of the painting – This picture is a portrait of the young Stalin. The red background represents the blood that has flowed during his dictatorship.
